Winter brings a new kind of beauty to the Assiniboine Forest, from the fresh snow on the boughs to the lingering browns of the vegetation. For this photo album, I use a pretty loose definition of winter - anytime there is fresh snow on the ground or the pond is frozen.

The late-afternoon shadows in the winter forest undulate on the snow in never-ending patterns.
Winter paints the forest in a monotone composition of white, grey, and black and teases the eye with subtle shades of brown.
